Add multiple networks to use different blockchains within the same wallet.

Swapping tokens on different blockchains (Binance Smart Chain, Avalanche, etc.) requires your wallet to have the correct network settings for your transactions to go through. This video will show you how to add these networks to your wallet.

Metamask Adding Networks V2 Complete thumbnail

Hello and Welcome. In todays video we will be discussing how to add more networks to your Metamask wallet. Once your Metamask wallet has been set up, it will have the Ethereum Network already installed by default. If you plan to use blockchains other than Ethereum, then you will also want to install any additional compatible networks to your wallet.

As usual we will go to the top right of our browser and click on the Metamask chrome extension. You may notice that your wallet doesn’t open up to full screen like it has in some of our past videos. Now that your wallet is set up, this will be the default layout. But don’t worry, you can make it full screen by clicking on the three dots and selecting expand view.

Now that we are inside our wallets, you will notice at the top right there is a drop down box that shows the Ethereum Main Net. Click on the arrow and the box will expand and give us more options. At this point you will want to click on the add network button to go to the next page.-

On this screen you can see we have several different networks that we can add to our wallet. Here at the bottom, you can also see that we have a link to manually add a network. We will go over both options in the following steps.

For this example, we will be adding the polygon main net to our wallets, click on the add button to be taken to the next page. Please feel free to pause this video and take some time to familiarize yourself with the following pop up.

This is the standard information that Metamask requires us to input when adding a new network. When you are ready, click the approve button and on the following screen you will see that the network was added successfully.

If we head back to our network section and click the arrow you will see that we can now switch between both networks. So lets go ahead and click on the Add Network button again and this time we will add a network manually. This will require a few more steps, but is still fairly simple to do.

In the following example we will add the by nance smart chain to our wallets. Please note that this process can be used for several different blockchains, as long as they are compatible with the Metamask wallet.

First you will want to search on how to add the by nance smart chain to Metamask.- I always attempt to find the network page I am searching for, this will assure we get the correct information to enter into our wallets. From here click on the link and scroll down to the Main Net information section, and then start entering the information into the empty fields.

Please note that its best to copy and paste the U R L links to make sure that they are input correctly. Once all the fields have been populated, go a head and click the save button. Also be aware that to use the by nance smart chain network, you will need to have the native token in your wallet for transactional gas fees.

Now, Lets head back up to our network section one more time and you will see we now have all three networks correctly installed in our wallets. If for any reason you decide you want to delete a network, you can do so by hovering your mouse over the network and then clicking the X.-

And there you have it! You have successfully added a couple of new networks to your wallet. At this point, please feel free to take some time to start exploring around so you can become familiar with the lay out of your new wallet.

Thank you for joining us today to learn about this process. Please be sure to check out our other videos in the university that will further explain the functionality of this, and other crypto related topics.
