Metamask Importing Tokens V1 Complete thumbnail

Transcript

Hello and welcome. In todays video we will be discussing how to import tokens into your Metamask wallet.

First lets open our wallets from the browser extension. From here we will scroll down to the bottom of the page where we will find the import tokens link.- Clicking on this link will open the next window, which will allow us to search for tokens that are already in our wallet or to add a custom token.

Clicking on the custom token tab will open a new dialog box, this is where we will add the token contract address.- To find the address we will need to use a couple of different websites.

I typically go to Coin Market Cap to find the contract address of the token I want to import. Conversely you can also use websites like Etherscan, which is a blockchain explorer for Ethereum based tokens, or you can search the tokens official website as well.

Once here, click on the search field and type in the token symbol or name to find it. In this example I will search for Tether. Some coins are only affiliated with one blockchain, while other coins like Tether can be used on multiple networks.

As you can see, the contract address defaults to the Ethereum network. But if you click on the More tab, you will see that there are several chains that this token can interact with. Always make sure when you are entering a contract address into your wallet, that you have the correct network address, otherwise you will receive an error.

Now that we have a general understanding of that, lets click on the copy address link and go back into our wallet.

Click on the import tokens button once more, along with the custom token Tab. Then paste the address into the empty field. Once this is complete the rest of the fields will auto populate.

Now add your token with the following two buttons, and the new token will be added to our wallets.

Now that we have the new token in our wallet you can click on it to interact with it’s functionality. You can do this by clicking on the three dots in the upper right, which will allow you to view your account details, and also give you the ability to view your token on the Etherscan website. Hiding the token will remove it from your wallet, and finally, by clicking here you can get the overall details of the token.

Thank you for joining us today to learn about this process. Please be sure to check out our other videos in the university, as we continue to explore this subject along with other crypto related topics.
